Hamburger Vegetable Lentil Soup

1 lb. hamburger

5 3/4 cups total, tomato juice and beef broth, mixed

1 cup lentils, rinsed and drained

1 cup diced carrots

1 cup diced celery

1 cup chopped cabbage

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 chopped green pepper

1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. pepper

1 bay leaf

In large pot over medium high heat, brown the hamburger until crumbly. Drain.

Add the tomato juice and broth, plus 2 to 3 cups water. Bring to a boil.

Add the remaining ingredients.

Bring back to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
