Strawberry Ribbon Squares

2 cups unsifted all purpose flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/3 cups butter or margerine, softened


a package [4 serving size] Jell-O Vanilla Instant Pudding

1 3/4 cups milk

1 envelope Dream Whip Dessert Topping Mix

1 package [3 ounce] Jell-O Strawberry Jelly Powder

1 cup boiling water

1 package [15 ounces] frozen sliced strawberries

1 Tablespoon lemon juice


Combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs.

Press evenly on bottome of 13x9x2 inch baking pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F. for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. [Do not overbake.] Cool.

Prepare instant pudding as directed on package, using 1 3/4 cups milk.

Prepare dessert topping mix as directed on package.

Fold 1 cup into prepared pudding. Spread on baked crust.

Dissolve jelly powder in boiling water.

Add frozen strawberries, breaking apart with a fork. Stir until slightly thickened, 3 to 5 minutes.

Add lemon juice. Spoon evenly over pudding layer. Chill unti firm.

To serve, cut in squares. Garnish with remaining dessert topping. Makes 16 servings.

*You may substitute other frozen fruits and other Jell-O flavors, or even use canned fruit, such as fruit cocktail, with cherry Jell-O.
